John 2:1-5 (NKJV)
2 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. 3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” 4 Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”
Have you ever expected God to perform a miracle in your life?
If so, how high were your expectations and were you confident that God could do it?
It’s interesting that Jesus’ mother shared this issue with him concerning no more wine at the wedding. As far as we know, Jesus had not performed any miracles yet. So, what was Mary expecting Jesus to do? Maybe purchase wine from their neighbors? Nonetheless, she had the ultimate confidence that her Lord would come through and save the day.
Jesus gave them instructions, they obeyed, and a miracle occurred in their midst.
The life lesson that we should take away from this story is that we need to exhibit the same confidence that Mary had in Jesus. She showed us how to approach the Lord with a need and believe that He will come through. The Bible reminds us here:
Philippians 4:6 (NKJV)
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
Don’t be afraid to ask God for the miraculous. God is waiting for you to ask with faith and confidence, knowing that He will answer your prayers. Won’t He do it? Won’t He do it?
If you want to live “Above and Beyond” you must have the confidence of Mary and believe God like never before. Believe that God has a blessing with your name on it! Believe that 2018 is going to be your best year yet. Mary’s message was concise and to the point “Whatever He says to you, do it.”
- Be confident that God is bigger than your situation.
- Don't hesitate to make your request known to God.
- Expect God to perform miracles in your life.
Heavenly Father, today I see you bigger than any problem or situation I may face. I know that you answer prayers and I am confident that you hear me and will do mighty exploits in my life. I am ready to live a life of “Above and Beyond.” In Jesus Name Amen
